How your life path is calculated

Numerology reduces each part of your birth date on its own, the month, the day and the year, by adding its digits until a single digit remains. The three results are then added together and reduced once more. The only numbers never reduced are the master numbers 11, 22 and 33. Here is a birthday of 29 December 1990 worked through:

Month

12 → 1 + 2 = 3

Day

29 → 2 + 9 = 11

Year

1990 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1

Total

3 + 11 + 1 = 15 → 1 + 5 = 6

The day, 29, reduces to the master number 11 and is kept whole, so the total is 3 + 11 + 1 = 15, which reduces to life path 6. Reducing each part separately (rather than adding all eight digits at once) is the traditional method, and it is the only way master numbers hidden inside a date can surface.
